The Coffee that definitely woke me up

I am not a huge coffee drinker like others but most of us has those moments that we just need one. Today was that day for me. I haven't been sleeping good lately and it's probably because of my after work naps before continuing my day with volleyball practices or what not resulting to late nights.

I was finishing my Starbucks Mocha Frap which is my coffee of choice (and not the normal hot coffee with creamer and sugar) and today it decided to jump onto my work keyboard and made a puddle and it definitely woke me up. My work take smelled like coffee all day but I saw a chance of calling the help desk and asking for a new keyboard which I've been wanting forever.

Well, my keyboard was replaced, now it's time for me to work on my pc tower getting replaced. It makes this accelerating fan sound that makes it sound like it's either gonna blow up or fly away from where it is seated. He changed it's fan today but I'll probably find a way o get it replaced. Lol

Jaquan Price - "It Gets Better Project"

By now you've probably heard about the Recent suicides due to gay abuse where as the "It Gets Better Project" started for people from the LGBT and Friends share their experiences with bullying and other experiences growing up.

My friend Jaquan recently posted his contribution in his Facebook page and it touched my heart deeply. He expresses how he found "dance" as his shelter when he is afraid and needed to find himself.

Watch Jaquan as he dances from the heart and soul ...

My Metro Promise

I would say today was pretty much a good day for me. Not to mention is was my 2nd day of keeping my Metro Promise (yes folks, from now on that's what in gonna call it whenever I take the bus to work and mostly walk home).
I just wanted to share this picture that i took from my iPhone. I've been living south of downtown (SODO as what we call it) for almost 8 years now and I've always admired the view of downtown right when I walk of my apartment main door. Today was no different, as I was walking home from work and now two blocks away from home, I looked back at this view and I just couldn't help it but to take a picture and admire the view ones again.

Seattle is really pretty. As a matter of fact I love living here. Just the pace and surroundings makes me almost feel like I'm back home in the Philippines. I'm used to the wet and dry weather coz that's all we have back home, so experiencing 4 seasons in one day here in Seattle doesn't bother me as much. But I love it when its in a good day like this, and mind you it's already October.

I hope this continues a lil bit more. At least it won't be freezing on my walk home.

My coworker Michele and I was outside work when she played matchmaker for us. And it was an instant hit as he wraps his arms around me!

Thanks Michele! LOL!

Kuya Allan just said this guy is everywhere in Seattle... Hmm.. Maybe I need to investigate more of his history.

My Metro Promise

I've been telling my coworker Michele for a year and a half now that I'll be starting taking the Metro going to work. One, it saves me money from parking and two, I live like 14 blocks away from me literally.
My friends has been making fun of me as well about driving to work instead of taking the metro.

FINALLY!!! I took the Metro today after promising in forever!

I don't know what time I should leave and what's the estimate of travel time. I normally leave at 625am when I drive and I get to work just in time. I was planning on leaving at 6am but as usual I was running late and didn't get out my doorstep until 610am. I was worried that I won't make it on time of swiping in at 630am but to my surprise I arrived at work at 625am (the normal time I leave home when I drive).

20 minutes was faster than I thought. Why? Coz i have to climb couple of blocks up of (Mount) Seneca (i was gonna take a picture but it was still dark out). Downtown Seattle is pretty famous with its hills ala San Francisco area (well less steep at least). Tons of my friends working downtown would know just like my friend Anton who conquers (Mount) Madison which is way harder then the one I'm taking.

I'm hoping to keep this up and hoping this is my start. I know it's kind of stupid to start doing this when summer is over but then I have to start somewhere. It just so happen it's the wrong season.

The Lady with Anxiety

I had a late start today in the emergency room coz I was relieved from Radiology until 9am and had to meet with one of our coordinators.

By the time I got to the ER, the first person I helped was a family member of an elderly patient who checked in two days ago coming straight from the train station after getting back from an out of town trip. She came in to visit who I believe is her mom, she got admitted to the hospital after her visit to our emergency room. I was able to track the patient right away and to her surprise, the patients room was in the 17th floor and not the 7th floor which could have been a floor away from our ER.

But here's the problem, she has anxiety getting into an elevator and worse, it is 10 flights up from where we were.

By that time, it was just couple of minutes passed 10am. Her sister was just right behind her parking the car hoping "the lady" can see their mom first. I tried convincing her getting into the elevator and even offered that I will go with her going up stairs but she refused. She stayed in our waiting area and called her sister about the whole 17th and not the 7th floor.

I normally take my lunch break late since u get breakfast before transferring to the ER from Radiology. 1pm came and I was on my way to the cafeteria when I saw her down the hallway by the elevators. I smiled at her from a far as I see the slow progress that she's made. I didn't even think that she can set her eyes to the elevator doors but then deep inside I was proud of her just being able to stand there.

As I approach her, I immediately acknowledged the progress she's made and immediately talked to her about the help I was offering earlier. She looked at me and I can jut see the fear in her eyes. I told her that I was on my lunch break an I'll stand with her until she is ready. After couple if minutes she told me that she is ready. All she asked us that I stand close to her to keep her calm. She looked at me hitting the buttons of the elevator and I told her which car we are hopping on and she repeated when I said 17th floor.

The elevator doors opened it was packed with people together with a stretcher in board but just perfect for the two of us to fit in. As soon as the elevator doors closed she looked down and leaned on my shoulder. We had a little problem on our way, the elevator had to stop in almost every floor possible but I did not mention that to her coz we might go back to square one. Luckily, we saw her sister one floor up when the door opened saying age got booted from the other one because there was a patient that needed to be transported. Luckily, she didn't panic. As we kept going up and making stops on every floor, I can feel her anxiety kept building up. But inlaid talking to her and reminding her that she was doing great. She hated the rush of the elevator as it accelerates up as soon as the doors closes. I made sure to keep her calm and kept talking to her while her sister was making fun of her. Haha!

We made it to the 17th floor with no major anxiety attacks or any meltdown. But I can see her eyes was getting teary but as I look at her while she took her time before we walked to the room I simply told her that she did amazing and she shouldn't be worried heading back down. She made a huge step and conquered it. I then told her that if she needed me to be there again on her flight down? She can definitely call me.

I walked them to their moms room so that I can check how was she doing as well. She was pretty I'll when she came in to the ER couple of days ago but she was looking great web I saw her. I excised myself as I go to the nurses station to grab a piece of paper to write sown my extension just in case she needed me again. She gave me a big hug and thanked me. My heart just melted.

After my lunch break I went back to my station and asked my co worker if somebody has called for me. No sign of her needing help so I thought they were staying longer up there. Couple of minutes later, she and her sister walked by my area and about to head out for a smoke. She had a huge smile on her face and looked at me saying thank you a couple of times and it made me smile.

It felt good helping somebody today. It was something different in a regular basis on how I help out patients in our hospital. It felt heart warming to be able to help someone even in a short amount of time. I wasn't gonna give up on her I told myself, from the time she told me about her anxiety until she made it to the top, not only to the 17th floor but on top of her fear.

Mr. & Ms. Asian Pacific Islander 2010 Legends

I have mentioned about the Mr. & Ms. Asian Pacific Islander 2010 pageant before and posted a blog about our photo shoot and I for sure had fun with that one.

The day has finally arrived last Saturday, September 25 for the coronation night. I wanted to share this video to express how much thankful I am that I am part of this group and most especially, I wanted to thank the founders of the Asian Pacific Islander Council for still considering me part of the organization. The people who's on the video/performance are the people who worked hard to make this event possible.

I most definitely love the song choice that they made for this performance. I have to admit, the song still plays in my head most of the time. It was originally performed by female celebrities for the Stand up for the Cure of Cancer but it's meaning is very wide.

Hope you guys enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed being back on stage for one night only (don't know when is the next one). Haha!

Included in the performance are (by appearance) Shaka Kwan, Teriyaki Temple, Neveah, Kelly Temple, Aleksa Manila, Regina King, Kalika Manila, yours truly Chanelle Montenegro, Nina Flowers, Gaysha Starr, Asia Cache and Tanya Rachinee. These girls worked hard for the event and I'm definitely looking onward on working with them again.

Enjoy!
