I can't remember the last time I've had this. Nowadays, I would only get to eat some of these when I'm in a Hawaiian restaurant. But every place makes it different. I remember when I was younger that we would always have a Mac salad every special occasion and this one taste just the same like I remember, bringing back childhood memories.
Thanks Mom and Dad for making half tray of it. Haha!!!
I've never had Cambodian food before and finally got to try some. My friend who I call Camby invited us to join him after playing open gym volleyball yesterday and I'm all up for it.
I didn't know what to expect but the only thing he told me is that it's mostly the same with Asian dishes. I was gonna play it safe get a grill sampler where all types of meat are just grilled... Same thing with a Hawaiian platter but ventured out a lol and order this "Loc Lac" which is a tender beef marinated steak cubes with garlic, cracked blacked peppers, and house spices pan sautéed with whisky to medium well, accompanied with lettuce, tomatoes and sweet onions and a side of lemon-black pepper vinaigrette. Phew!(got that from their menu site)
I posted an Instagram picture on my Facebook page and people immediately knew where I was. I guess I just never ventured my way there but it's a pretty popular place called Phnom Penh Noodle House in International District, Chinatown here in Seattle. It's a must try!!!
Our good friend Judi came for a visit to party with us over Halloween weekend since he left for Pharmacy school to the east side of Washington. HoneyLove, Judi and I would hang out a lot on Thirsty Thursdays, volleyball and other kind of events.
Trying on our Ginger wigs at the store
Pre-funking at home
Of course I had to take a "self-portrait" on our way to the party
with the birthday boy GBC
We've been wanting to dress up for Halloween together in forever but it just never happens and this year was our chance. We ended up going to Value Village to venture on some costumes but hours later, there is no luck. Together with the Halloween celebrations, our friends GBC (Ginger Bear Cub) is celebrating his birthday at the place that we were going too. So we had a bright idea of dressing as "Gingers" for the night in dedication of our friend GBC.
We had a blast that night and it was so good to get to hang out with Judi once again.
It was definitely a Sunday Craving Fix kind of day yesterday as I was able to indulge myself with some of my favorites that I haven't had in awhile.
Beef Brisket, Squid Ball and Wonton Noodle soup.
I used to eat this a lot when I lived a block away from Chinatown. But since we moved a lil further south last year, I barely get a chance to stop by for some yummy noodles. This reminds me of the noodle soups back home. Same taste... same craving fix. Funny how the lady server still works there after 10 years of living here in Seattle and 10 years of eating there.
Now this is major yum yum in my tummy. We went to our friends place right after having noodles at Chinatown and this tray of macaroons was basically waiting on us while being baked. It was so delicious!!!
When I used to work at the airport, I remember buying some of these but the only difference is the half chocolate dipped accent to it.
Well there goes my Sunday Craving Fix. And there goes tons of extra pounds on me again. Oh well, it was so good.
Yes, it's another surprise for Boo on his 21st birthday.
This guy deserves all the love that he is getting from his friends and family members.
I've met Boo's mom parents before. First was on his freshman year when the UW Men's Volleyball club team had a fundraiser event. It was very casual and short. I don't even remember what conversation we had at that time. And the second time was quite a surprise when I showed up to recent tournament here in Seattle and his mom was there together with his cousin. We had a longer chat this time and they even watched my match.
A week later she emailed me to inform me that she was planning on a surprise trip for Boo on his 21'st birthday. And of course, I instantlyagreed to participate. Easy task, all she asked was for some help to pack some of favorite clothes together with what she had "stolen" (in her own term) while Boo was on summer break at home.
The day came and Boo is 21. YAY!!! I had to work that day and had PT/Rehab session and rushed to his place to start packing his stuff while the family was out for dinner. . At first I had no clue what to pack but i definitely knew what his favotires was. Why? Because I like those favorites too and I probably had previews of those items before he purchased it. My numero uno Cambodian was contacted by his mom as well to take pictures of the precious event. So we tagged along from his house to the airport.
Boo was clueless of the whole thing. He thought that after dinner, his cousin Megan and his brother GF will follow so we can party that night and celebrate.Little did he know he will be flying to Malibu,CA at Pepperdine.
I'll let the pictures explain how the whole surprise went...
Here's me packing his favorite clothes.
Boo and family arrived at the airport. Eyes blind folded and car blasting with music
so he won't hear as much overhead announcements at the airport..
His cousin Megan guiding him off the car...
Meanwhile, his mom is trying to organize the signs they made.
Signs still not up. Everybody was too excited.
The look on his dad's face is too precious. Haha!
We are ready!!!
Clueless and obviously nervous.
Time for hugs for everyone!
Group pic with everyone.
Such a precious moment captured with Boo and his mom.
I packed tons of his favorite shoes and clothes and tried to fit it on two
Lululemon bags so gets to choose what to bring. I was specifically looking
for that yellow striped tank that I got him from RVCA while I was in San Francisco
but his mom already got it. Phew!
More packing decisions.
His mom also had an idea for some reading materials while he is on the plane.
I've asked couple of people close to Boo to write a card for his birthday.
This one was from Kane, a homemade birthday card craftly done and I'm pretty
sure the content was just as special.
Couple of laugs before he goes.
I love hugs coming from this guy. So sincere and meaning ful and
definitely deserves the same.
His brothers girlfriend Emma gets her huge hug!
Sharing hugs with his brother.
Thanks Jacob and Emma for keeping me posted of the updates that night.
Cousin Megan who is always put together and so gorgeous.
Hugs with the Dad.
Ok, promise this is the last group picture of us. Haha!
I've asked Camby to follow him on the security line to get a paparazzi shot before
Check on Boo's 1st Birthday suprise with the the UW girls and close friends when he had a scavenger hunt and dinner with close friends.
Boo's birthday was Sept. 22nd and I was getting really mad that my gift was back ordered so bad. I even paid $15 for a 2-day air shipping x-(.
Yesterday, my gift for him finally came in, just in time for us to see each other from his surprise birthday trip to Malibu,CA. I'll make a separate entry about it when I gather the pics from a friend who took pictures that night. I kinda wish it came in on time though so that I could have laid it out on his bed for him to see right when he comes back.
Anyways, I've heard of this website that makes a woven picture blanket and thought it would be a perfect gift for Boo. I looked into details and it was affordable and was something that he can use. I thought a blanket was a perfect gift coz I remember him talking about me having lack of "couch blankets/throws" at home. So maybe he would bring this whenever he comes over. Haha! When it came in, I immediately opened the package and laid it out on the pull out couch and it was a perfect size (60x50). I am thinking of ordering one for me, granted this is both our favorite pic together... Well at least one of them for me.
I got the woven blanket at Shutterfly. I'm definitely ordering another one :).
It was a good week to be a Husky it at least in my case a Husky fan. On Wednesday, the ladies of UW volleyball beat #4 UCLA in 5 sets and the UW Football team beat Stanford. And last night, #5 UW Volleyball sweeps #3 USC Trojans.
The young team stayed composed as strong. Errors here as there have away points but they definitely came back strong in every rally. Krista Vansant was on fire the whole match and the Dawgs defense was on point and they definitely played a lot better compared to their match vs UCLA.
Kylin Munoz don't normally serve in rotations with their 6-2 offense line-up but she killed it on the service line finishing the match with 5 aces. Girl has a killer serve. Go Ky!!!
Sorry for the blurry pic but everybody was excited after winning the match. We have the best fans here in Washington. The Dawg Pack definitely pumps up the crowd every time.
Hopefully the winning streak continues on their away matches. Home court advantage is definitely a huge factor in a match. But as strong as the look right now, I have faith that this girls will bring it!
I love seeing people I know be successful on what they do. One example of Cherry.
I met Cherry back in college at Far Eastern University in the Philippines and we got pretty close throughout those years. Cherry has always been into art and designing. Often times, you would catch him playing on fabrics and just pinning them and it would look like a fabulous evening gown. Once in awhile, you can catch him doodling on a piece of paper playing on some designs.
When I found out that Cherry would be competiting on the Philippine version of Project Runway, I knew I had to find a way to watch it and Youtube was my solution. Although Cherry didn't win the competition, I knew that he would make it big one day. I almost jumped out of my sit when I saw a feature of him on Stylebible.ph.
I'm so excited for more of Cherry. The dresses that he makes for celebrities and on the runways are just exquisite and the taste is just amazing!
Had my Korean craving fix (Bibimbap) last night at University District. Thanks to my Boo for a good call and choice of dinner and together with my Love. My Korean craving fix and spending time with two of the most precious people in my heart... my weekend is complete.
It was a special night for a very special person in my life. It was my dear Boo's (MaxieBoo) surprise birthday dinner collectively planned by the lovely ladies of UW Volleyball.
Ky and Jo contacted me couple of days before the surprise telling me that they wanted to plan a scavenger hunt for Boo and end the night with dinner together with our closest friends. Couple of weeks before then, we have secretly been talking about that night and we just wanted to make it a special night.
Boo had no clue and was totally surprised by it all. Here was my lil bit of struggle... Boo and I planned to hang out Thursday and Friday and knowing that the surprise was Friday, I had to figure out how to "get rid" of him so he won't have any clue on what was really gonna happen. I told the girls to let him know right away about their plans on that Friday. So, basically I was just waiting for Boo to cancel on me for our Friday. Sure enough, I got the text and of course I had to give him a lil of a hard time about it. Haha! He was a lil upset that I was upset that he canceled lil did he know I was into something. I think I even used the line "So much for no interreptions" and that probably got him. Sorry Boo!
So we hangout Thursday night with couple of Red Box rentals and drinks til the next day came that the both of us was just tired. We took a nap and next thing you know it was 4:30 pm. I was like "when does he leave? I have to get ready" in the back of my head. LOL!
I tried to take a picture of Boo as he removes his blindfold at the restaurant but obviously he was too happy and surprised that all I got was a blurry picture. LOL!
So much fun that night surprising my Boo. I hope I don't have to pay for it soon since I gave you a hard time while planning it.
After posing by myself in the middle of the Streets of New York, my Love Kane joined in to add on some extra spice to it. You can call it Streets of New York part deux. Both of us are hoping for a New York part two trip someday. See the city more, party and just pure relaxation.
Ryan Lochte was on E! Fashion Police and pretty much shared his naked side to Joan Rivers and the rest of its crew saying that there's a lot of shaving all over his body except for his head. He also said that this was his personal preference.
Seeing pictures of the flooding and calamity that's going on in my hometown breaks my heart. I can still remember experiencing it when I was in freshman in college many moons ago. Traveling early morning to school and finding out that half of Manila is already under water and walking in the flood trying to get back home was not a pretty experience either.
So please help out all you can by using the emergency hotline posted above and tons of prayers for my hometown. And if you are interested on making any donations, please go to Philippine Red Cross.
This is what happens when you invite friends over for a night of drinking. And we haven't even started yet! I remember hearing the clackers (sound of the heels from the ground) on my hallways as if there was a runway show and I can hear it all the way from the backyard and I knew this bitches was having a fashion show.
Thanks for coming over y'all! Had a blast watching The Simple Life season 1. Haha!!!
My dear BabyGurl was WGW (White Gurl Wasted) that night and wrestled Kane for saying something RUUUUDE!!!
